Boavista vs. Famalicao - prediction, team news, lineups

In what is a relegation six-pointer, two teams battling to beat the drop square off at the Estadio do Bessa XXI as Boavista host Famalicao on Saturday.

This is the second meeting between the sides this term, with Famalicao coming back from two goals down to force a share of the spoils in October's reverse fixture.

Match preview

Boavista were beaten 2-1 in their last outing when they travelled to the Dom Afonso Henriques Stadium to take on Vitoria.

Jesualdo Ferreira's men came into the game fresh off a 1-0 home win over Moreirense, handing the visitors their first defeat in four games.

Os Axadrezados took the lead courtesy of Ricardo Mangas's 17th-minute strike, but Rochinha restored parity after 22 minutes before Andre Andre's second-half penalty completed the comeback for Joao Henriques's side.

Boavista will now take on a rejuvenated Famalicao, who they have failed to taste victory against in all three previous attempts.

Famalicao ended their run of four straight losses when they held on for a goalless draw with struggling Belenenses.

This was followed with a hard-fought 1-0 win away to 11th-placed Rio Ave, before extending their unbeaten run to three with a second goalless draw in three games as they grabbed a point against Farense last time out.

With five points from three games, the visitors have now moved away from the automatic relegation zone and into the relegation playoffs place, one point above Saturday's hosts.

However, while Fama have changed their fortunes in recent weeks, they have struggled in front of goal, scoring only five goals since the turn of the year and failing to find the target in four of their last five matches.

The last six teams on the log are separated by just two points, meaning either side has the chance to make up some ground on whoever drops points and move clear of the drop zone.

Team News

The hosts have no fresh injury concerns, meaning Ferreira has almost a full strength squad to select from on Saturday.

However, they are still without 21-year-old midfielder Miguel Reisinho, who made six appearances before suffering a season-ending ACL injury.

The visitors will travel without Ecuadorian forward Leonardo Campana as he battles with a hamstring injury.

Joao Neto, who is yet to make an appearance for Os Axadrezados this year, is also ruled out for this tie as he recovers from a muscle injury.

Twenty-seven-year-old forward Alexandre Guedes will aim to open his Famalicao account, as he is yet to find the back of the net since completing his loan move from Vitoria back in January.

Boavista possible starting lineup:

Jardim; Cannon, Devenish, Awaziem, Mangas; Paulinho, Garcia, Santos; Sauer, Elis, Gomes

Famalicao possible starting lineup:

Junior; Patrick, Queiros, Babic; Figueiras, Ugarte, Assuncao, Rodrigues, Vinagre; Tavares, Guedes

We say: Boavista 0-2 Famalicao

After disappointing starts to the season, both sides find themselves in a heated relegation scrap. However, Famalicao have looked the more solid side in recent weeks, and considering their impressive run against the hosts, we fancy them to grab all three points and move four points clear of the automatic drop zone.
