Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean believes that his squad will be "better" than the team that started the Premier League last season.
The Scottish boss, who has acquired the signatures of Danny Murphy, Nuno Gomes and Leon Best, is confident that the Lancashire outfit will have enough to launch a fightback into the top flight from the Championship.
"We're only thinking about one thing and that's getting ourselves promoted as quickly as possible," Setanta Sports quotes Kean as saying.
"We would like to think that going into the season we're going to have a better squad than we did last year in the Premier League.
"If we can get a squad where other clubs look at it and think, 'wow, what a squad that is, that's got quality all over', that's what I would like to happen before we've even kicked a ball."
Kean's side secured a 2-0 victory over Fleetwood Town during their pre-season schedule on Saturday.
