Preview: BK Hacken Women vs. Benfica Women - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Women's Champions League clash between BK Hacken Women and Benfica Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

BK Hacken Women will be looking to replicate last week's 1-0 away victory when they welcome Benfica Women to Sweden on Wednesday in the Women's Champions League.

Meanwhile, the Portuguese champions are still searching for their first victory of the group stage, collecting just one point from their opening three games.

Match preview

Hacken are a point behind second-placed side Bayern Munich in Group D, and a win on Wednesday could see them move above the German side.

The Swedish outfit collected their first points of the group stage when they picked up a narrow victory in Portugal last week.

The encounter seemed to be drifting to a goalless draw, but Hacken were awarded a penalty in the 79th minute, with Elin Rubensson stepping up to dispatch the spot-kick to ensure that her side took all three points back to Sweden.

With their domestic season completed, Hacken have not played since last week's encounter, and will be fresh when they enter Wednesday's contest.

Mats Gren will be confident that his side continue their impressive home form, with Hacken losing just once on home turf in their last 12 competitive games.

Benfica will know that if they wish to close the gap to the qualification places in Group D, a victory is needed on Wednesday.

The Portuguese champions responded well to the Hacken defeat by thumping Estoril 5-1 on Saturday, with Madalina Tatar and Maria Negrao both scoring in the first half to give Benfica a two-goal lead at half time.

The win was completed in the second period with Valeria Cantuario scoring from the spot, before Lara Pintassilgo wrapped up a dominant performance with a brace.

Benfica's away form has been mixed, winning three of their six away fixtures this term, but they have suffered two defeats in that period.

Although, the visitors can take confidence from their previous two away games, where they scored 18 goals and only conceded once.

Team News

Stina Blackstenius had to be withdrawn in the 59th minute last week due to a knee problem, but Hacken are hopeful that the forward can start on Wednesday.

After winning Damallsvenskan's Goalkeeper Of The Year award on Monday, Jennifer Falk will be aiming for another clean sheet.

Rubensson will be in a confident mood heading into the Benfica clash having scored two goals in her last three appearances.

Filipa Patao made wholesale changes for the Estoril contest, with a view to rest players ahead of the trip to Sweden.

The Benfica starting lineup is expected to be similar to the one that lost to Hacken last week, which should mean that 18-year-old Francisca Nazareth starts in a front three.

BK Hacken Women possible starting lineup:
Falk; Wijk, Gewitz, Kullberg, Okvist; Rubensson, Zigiotti Olme, Curmark; Kaneryd, Gejl, Blackstenius

Benfica Women possible starting lineup:
Leticia; Amado, Costa, Rebelo, Sousa Alves; Cameirao, Encinas, Ucheibe; Cinta, Lacasse, Nazareth

We say: BK Hacken Women 2-1 Benfica Women

Like last week's encounter, we expect this to be a close contest, but Hacken will be full of confidence after the victory in Portugal, and we think they collect successive victories on Wednesday.
