Birmingham City, Blackpool play out draw at St Andrew's

Birmingham City and Blackpool played out a 1-1 draw in their Championship clash at St Andrew's as Kirk Broadfoot cancelled out Curtis Davies's strike.

The visitors started strongly and could have been ahead after five minutes when Gary Taylor-Fletcher teed up Thomas Ince but the latter's shot went the wrong side of the post.

Ince was in the action moments later as he lifted the ball over Jack Butland but defender Curtis Davies was there to clear the ball off the line at the last second.

Despite Blackpool's dominance it was the hosts who took the lead as Davies headed home from a left-wing cross from Shane Ferguson on the stroke of half time.

After the break, Birmingham almost doubled their lead when Peter Lovenkrands turned his marker and shot at goal only to see his effort come off the post.

Barry Ferguson looked to be in a perfect place to get his side level but Shane Ferguson made a great tackle to stop the Scot pulling the trigger.

However, Blackpool were level minutes later when Kirk Broadfoot rose highest in the penalty area to head home Neal Eardley's corner.

Wade Elliott should have given the home side all three points minutes from full time but he somehow lifted the ball over from six yards out.
