Report: Birmingham to appoint Rowett

Birmingham City are reportedly close to appointing Gary Rowett as their new manager.

The Championship side are looking for a new boss following the sacking of Lee Clark a week ago.

Rowett is expected to leave his post as Burton Albion boss after five-and-a-half years with the Derbyshire club as assistant and manager.

After taking over from Paul Peschisolido in 2012, the 40-year-old has guided the Brewers into the League Two playoffs in each of the last two seasons.

Rowett, who spent two years at St Andrew's as a player between 1998 and 2000, will be confirmed as Birmingham manager this afternoon, according to Sky Sports News.

The Blues lost 8-0 at home to Bournemouth on Saturday under the caretaker charge of Malcolm Crosby and Richard Beale.
