Arjen Robben ruled out for six weeks

Bayern Munich attacker Arjen Robben faces six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a groin problem in his team's friendly with Lippstadt on Saturday.

Bayern Munich have revealed that Arjen Robben will miss the start of the 2016-17 campaign after suffering a groin muscle injury in Saturday's friendly with Lippstadt.

The Netherlands international was restricted to just 15 Bundesliga appearances last season due to a number of injury problems and the attacker is now facing another six weeks on the sidelines.

"FC Bayern will be without Arjen Robben for the next month and a half after the Dutch winger sustained a groin muscle injury in Saturday's friendly away to Lippstadt," read a statement on Bayern's official website.

"The injury to the player's right leg was diagnosed after an examination conducted by the club's medical unit in Munich on Sunday. Robben will be sidelined for approximately six weeks."

Robben will be out of contact at the Allianz next summer, but Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed at the end of last season that the 32-year-old was in line for a new deal.
