Andrea Barzagli admits that Juventus's best efforts were no match for Bayern Munich's experience.

Juventus centre-back Andrea Barzagli has insisted that the Italian side tried their best in the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich.

The Old Lady went down 4-0 on aggregate after a 2-0 loss on the night and Barzagli said that Bayern's experience of the competition was too much for Juventus.

"We tried hard tonight," UEFA.com quotes Barzagli as saying. "Maybe we could have done a bit more in the first leg as we did not play our best game in Munich.

"However, today we tried hard to attack them but Bayern once again proved to be a great team, and we can only congratulate them.

"They are a great side, with a great deal of experience in the Champions League compared to us. That is the conclusion we can draw from the tie; we can only hope to improve in order to be more competitive in a couple of years."

Juve are currently nine points clear at the top of Serie A.
