Barnsley striker Jason Scotland signs new one-year deal

Scotland pens new Barnsley deal

Barnsley have announced that striker Jason Scotland has put pen to paper on a fresh one-year contract at the club.

The 34-year-old first moved to Oakwell for free on a short-term deal at the Championship club during the January transfer window.

Barnsley manager David Flitcroft told the club's official website: "Jason has enthusiasm, energy and desire. He is a fantastic person who wants to help support the younger players in the squad and pass on his superb knowledge about the game.

"Everyone who watches Jason knows about his goal-scoring abilities, but it is also the other side of him that really excites me because this is a player who has tremendous experience, knowhow and drive that will benefit everyone. It's great to have Jason signed and I am hopeful we can follow this up with others in the coming weeks."

Scotland netted six goals during his first season with the Tykes.
