Wayne Rooney's brother John released by Barnsley

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney's brother John has been released by Championship outfit Barnsley.

The 21-year-old first joined the Tykes last autumn when he came to the end of his deal at US outfit Orlando City.

Despite only moving to the club last year, Barnsley have decided against offering the England international's sibling another contract.

Meanwhile, reports have claimed that United are willing to sell Rooney during the summer transfer window.
