Jacob Butterfield out for the season

Barnsley captain Jacob Butterfield has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

The 21-year-old sustained the complaint during the Tykes' 4-1 win over Leeds United on New Year's Eve.

Initial reports suggested that he may return within a month but a MRI scan revealed that there was damage to the anterior cruciate ligament.

Butterfield will now undergo surgery on Friday to repair the ligament.
