Barcelona hope to sign Getafe forward Angel as an emergency replacement for Ousmane Dembele, according to a report.

Barcelona are reportedly hopeful of completing a deal for Getafe forward Angel as an emergency replacement for Ousmane Dembele.

The France international has struggled with a whole host of injury problems during his time at Camp Nou and now faces missing the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign with a torn hamstring.

La Liga clubs are able to sign players outside of the transfer window if they suffer a long-term injury - five months or more - during the season, although the deal must be agreed by the Spanish FA, who will review the length of the absence.

According to the Daily Mail, Barca, who are also without Luis Suarez following knee surgery, have identified Angel as the ideal signing at this stage of the campaign.

The 32-year-old has been in impressive form for Getafe during the current season, scoring 13 times in 27 appearances in all competitions, including nine goals in La Liga.

Dembele's latest issue has left Antoine Griezmann, Lionel Messi and Ansu Fati as Barca's only senior options in the final third of the field.

Angel is believed to have a release clause of just €10m (£8m) inserted into his contract with Jose Bordalas's side.
