Tim Sherwood: 'Aston Villa will improve'

Tim Sherwood warns Aston Villa that they must develop more of a cutting edge following the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Tim Sherwood has admitted that his Aston Villa side lacked a cutting edge in tonight's 1-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester United at Villa Park.

Adnan Januzaj's deflected effort on 29 minutes settled a tight contest, but Sherwood, whose troops managed one shoot on target, warns that an improvement is needed.

"I think they gave everything for the cause, they had nothing left. Every one of them gave everything for these tremendous supporters," he told Sky Sports News.

"We need to now find a cutting edge, I think that helps with some individuals who are not fit at the moment - the likes of [Carles] Gil, [Jack] Grealish and Adama [Traore].

"Obviously we will get better, I know that and we need to."

The Villans opened their 2015-16 campaign with a 1-0 win at top-flight newcomers Bournemouth last week.
