Paul Lambert: 'Philippe Senderos will make difference for Aston Villa'

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is confident that Philippe Senderos will make a difference for the club this season.

Paul Lambert has insisted that he has no doubt Philippe Senderos can make a big impact for Aston Villa this season.

The Switzerland international joined the club on a free transfer recently following a short spell with Valencia, but Lambert is confident that the former Fulham, Everton and Arsenal defender still has plenty to offer in the Premier League.

"Philippe is a big-time player, he knows the game and exactly what it entails," the Villa boss told reporters. "He's played at three World Cups and there are not many players that can turn round and say that.

"I think he will be another brilliant acquisition for us. With the problems we did have at the back last year, then he's certainly going to add that experience in abundance.

"No two ways about it, he's another one who I think will do well for us."

Senderos made one appearance at the World Cup this summer as Switzerland reached the last 16 before being knocked out by Argentina.
