Aston Villa's Brett Holman is hoping to use the club's final pre-season friendly to establish a place in the first team.

Brett Holman has admitted that he is hoping he can use Aston Villa's friendly with Werder Bremen to establish a place in the first team.

Villa will play their final pre-season friendly in Germany later today before they begin their Premier League campaign against West Ham United next week, and Holman has revealed that he wants to impress Paul Lambert ahead of next week.

Holman told the Birmingham Mail: "It's up to us to make the manager's mind up and the game with Werder Bremen is a good chance for us to do that.

"As long as I am performing and giving it everything and pushing for the starting sport, then that is all I can do."

The 28-year-old signed for Aston Villa from AZ Alkmaar during the summer.
