Shay Given to see specialist on Thursday

Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given will reportedly travel to London on Thursday to consult a specialist about his knee injury.

The 36-year-old has missed the last two days' training with the Republic of Ireland after sustaining the problem, and his Euro 2012 campaign could therefore be in doubt.

The Ireland camp have insisted that the visit is purely precautionary, but it is understood that there are doubts over his long-term fitness.

Euro 2012 begins on June 8.
