Valdes fails Monaco medical

Victor Valdes will not join Ligue 1 side Monaco after the former Barcelona goalkeeper failed a medical.

The 32-year-old underwent medical tests on Wednesday ahead of a proposed move following his decision to leave Camp Nou when his contract expired at the end of last season.

Valdes suffered a serious knee injury in March, but the shot-stopper was unable to prove his fitness to the French club.

Monaco's vice president Vadim Vasyliev said: "He is injured and will not come here."

Valdes, who is a free agent, is now in the hunt for a new club.
