Preview: Monaco vs. Marseille

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Ligue 1 clash between Monaco and title chasers Marseille.

Twelve points separate Monaco and Ligue 1 leaders Marseille as the two go head to head at Stade Louis II on Sunday.

While Marseille are in fine domestic form, Monaco go into this weekend's match having secured top spot in their Champions League group following a 2-0 win over Zenit St Petersburg.

Leonardo Jardim's side have secured their spot in the last 16 of the elite tournament, and in the league, the club bounced back from their 2-0 defeat to Rennes by winning their next two fixtures.

Marseille have not had the distractions of European football, which has played a role in them losing just three games out of 17.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are on a four-game unbeaten run in the league and currently have a slender one-point advantage over second-placed Paris Saint-Germain.

That could all change at the weekend, which means that three points are vital for Marseille, whose two of three defeats of the season have occurred on away turf.

The last two meetings between the sides have resulted in Monaco taking all three points, and the hosts will be hoping for similar fortune when they line up with Tiemoue Bakayoko and Anthony Martial up front.

Marseille are likely to opt for Andre-Pierre Gignac and Andre Ayew in attack.

Monaco:

Form in Ligue 1: DDDLWW
Form in all competitions: DWLWWW

Possible starting lineup: Subasic; Raggi, Fabinho, Abdennour, Toulalan; Moutinho, Silva, Berbatov, Ferreira; Bakayoko, Martial

Marseille:

Form in Ligue 1: WLWWDW

Possible starting lineup: Mandanda; N'Koulou, Morel, Mendy, Fanni; Dja Djedje, Thauvin, Payet, Imbula; Gignac, Ayew

Sports Mole says: 1-1
