Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette admits that it is "never easy" to sit on the bench but is determined to fight for a regular place in Mikel Arteta's starting lineup.

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has admitted that it is "never easy" to sit on the bench but is determined to fight for a regular place in Mikel Arteta's starting lineup.

The 30-year-old has started only one of the Gunners' 10 matches across all competitions so far this season, which came in the EFL Cup against AFC Wimbledon.

Lacazette, who came off the bench and scored a dramatic equaliser to rescue a 2-2 draw at home against Crystal Palace on Monday night, is keen to play more for Arsenal and insists he will continue to work hard in training to try and impress Arteta.

"Of course, it's never easy to be on the bench. You always want to play and bring something to the team. This is what I tried to do," Lacazette told the Evening Standard.

"It's my first time like this. I am just waiting my time, I work every day in training for this kind of moment when I can help the team and obviously today I scored so I'm really happy."

Lacazette's future at the Emirates Stadium remains uncertain, as the forward has less than nine months remaining on his contract and could leave the club for free next summer.
