Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's final big-money deal at Arsenal supposedly cost the Gunners £1.2m for every goal he scored.
The Gabon international's switch to Barcelona on a free transfer is expected to be officially announced today, with his £350k-a-week contract at Arsenal - which still had 18 months left to run - being terminated.
Aubameyang penned his bumper new deal in the summer of 2020 after leading the Gunners to FA Cup glory, and he managed 22 goals in 54 appearances across all competitions in the months that followed.
However, with the 32-year-old failing to hit his usual heights after extending his Arsenal stay, The Mirror reports that each goal Aubameyang scored while under the terms of his new contract cost the club £1.2m.
Arsenal are expected to save a whopping £26m in wages following the termination of Aubameyang's contract, and the former Borussia Dortmund man leaves after scoring 92 goals in 163 appearances across all competitions.
Aubameyang's last game for the club came as a substitute in their 2-1 defeat to Everton back in December before he was stripped of the captaincy and exiled from the group.
