Mikel Arteta: 'Midfield options will give Arsenal title edge'

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta believes that Arsenal's ability to rotate their midfield can give them the edge in the Premier League title race, according to reports.

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has claimed that his side's ability to rotate their midfield can give them the edge ahead of Chelsea and Manchester City in the Premier League title race, according to reports.

The 31-year-old Spaniard, who played in Arsenal's 4-1 win against Sunderland last Saturday, believes that the options at manager Arsene Wenger's disposal can only bolster their chances of securing their first league title since 2004.

"It helps the team because we can rotate players and we can play differently," he Daily Star quotes Arteta as saying. "We can play with two [in midfield] and it gives us another option.

"No-one has been able to play every game this season. I think the league is getting more demanding, you need a big squad, you can't afford to have only 11 players."

The Gunners currently occupy second place in the Premier League, just a point behind leaders Chelsea with 11 games left in the season.
