Arsenal supporter arrested for confronting Arsene Wenger

Arsenal fan held for confronting Wenger

An Arsenal fan has been arrested after confronting manager Arsene Wenger in his dugout during today's 2-0 defeat to Southampton at St Mary's.

Goals from Sadio Mane and Dusan Tadic handed the Saints all three points as Arsenal slumped down to sixth in the Premier League table following Tottenham Hotspur's win over Chelsea in the late kickoff.

The fan, who is understood to have been seated with the home supporters, remonstrated with Wenger during the closing stages of the match before being dealt with by stewards and detained by the police.

Wenger has come under increasing pressure this season due to Arsenal's struggles in the race for a Champions League spot, with fans holding up banners asking the Frenchman to leave the club during a match against West Bromwich Albion in November.

The Gunners are now three points off the top four and face Stoke City at the Emirates in their next Premier League match.
