Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel admits that Serge Gnabry is likely to miss the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final with Arsenal.

Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Serge Gnabry is likely to miss the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final with Arsenal.

The Germany international has had a difficult 2023-24 campaign due to fitness issues, spending time on the sidelines with an arm injury earlier this season, before picking up a muscular problem at the start of December.

Gnabry made his comeback at the start of March, and he has shown his quality by scoring in three of his last four Bundesliga appearances, in addition to registering one assist.

The forward also netted against his former club Arsenal in Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Emirates Stadium, but he was forced off in the 70th minute.

Tuchel revealed after the match that the 28-year-old had picked up a hamstring problem, which is likely to see him miss the second leg of the clash with the Gunners next week.

"It's a hamstring injury. It doesn't look good for the second leg," said Tuchel after the contest.

Gnabry has been restricted to just 17 appearances in all competitions this season, managing five goals and one assist, and he is now seemingly set for another spell on the sidelines.

Bukayo Saka sent Arsenal ahead in the 12th minute of Tuesday's game, before Bayern turned the match around courtesy of goals from Gnabry and then Harry Kane, with the latter netting from the penalty spot.

However, Leandro Trossard levelled it up once again in the 76th minute, with the quarter-final delicately poised ahead of the second leg at Allianz Arena on April 17.

Tuchel said that he was "pleased with the result" in North London against "an extremely good opponent".

Tuchel "pleased" with Bayern's performance in London

"I'm pleased with the result. We could have won. We had another huge chance through Kingsley Coman at the end there. It was difficult, they're an extremely good opponent," he told reporters.

"We knew we had to play better than in Heidenheim and we did that. It was crucial we did that here. We got a draw, so what is required of us is clear. The winner of the next leg advances.

"We're playing at home and we need the same atmosphere then as today from the Arsenal fans. We need the same passion and commitment we showed today next week."

Meanwhile, Kane added: "We had to show passion and we did that. It was an intense game and not an easy one. Arsenal are top of the Premier League. It's a good result and I hope we can progress next week. Maybe the fans at home can make the difference.

"The Wembley dream is still there. We've taken a small step, but we have a big game ahead of us next week. Wembley is something special for me, of course. But there's still a long way to go."

Bayern will also be without the services of key defender Alphonso Davies for the second leg through suspension, with the Canada international picking up a booking against Arsenal in the English capital.
