Arsenal eased past Olympiacos with a comfortable 2-0 win on Champions League matchday two on Wednesday night, courtesy of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka's strikes.
Arsenal dominated the opening 45 minutes, boasting 62% possession and 10 shots to Olympiacos' two, but the hosts were only able to take a 1-0 lead into the break thanks to Gabriel Martinelli's 12th-minute strike, and while they looked largely in control, the visitors did remind the Gunners of their attacking threat when Daniel Podence was denied only by a sensational David Raya save.
Mikel Arteta's side continued to overpower Olympiacos in the second half, and after wasting a handful of glorious goalscoring opportunities, the Gunners finally put the game to bed when substitute Bukayo Saka scored in added time, securing a 2-0 win for the hosts.
SPORTS MOLE'S VERDICT
Arsenal may not have blown Olympiacos out of the water, but the Gunners certainly never looked in any real danger of dropping points tonight.
Although Raya was called into action in the first half, with the Spaniard making a super save, that was virtually all that was asked of the goalkeeper, as Arsenal controlled the game and limited Olympiacos to very few attacking opportunities.
At the other end of the pitch, the Gunners fashioned out plenty of chances, with Martin Odegaard's creative performance particularly striking, and while they did finish the game with two goals scored, a plethora of wasted opportunities could have seen Arsenal score several more.
While Arteta will be pleased with how his side controlled the game and ultimately left with a commanding 2-0 win, the Spaniard may be concerned at his team's inability to convert chances, especially as that was exactly what Viktor Gyokeres was signed to address.

Arsenal have taken the lead! Martinelli breaks the deadlock!
Martin Odegaard feeds the ball through to Gyokeres, who bullies his way past the defenders, and the striker's shot is brilliantly turned onto the post by Konstantinos Tzolakis.
Martinelli follows up the shot and slots the rebound into the back of the Olympiacos net with his left foot, giving Arsenal an early lead.

Saka puts the game to bed!
Saka picks the ball up on the left wing, fires the ball into Odegaard in a central position, and the midfielder returns a pass into the feet of Saka, who has continued his run into the area.
Saka lets the ball run across his body onto his left foot and strikes a driven effort that wriggles through the goalkeeper's legs and into the back of the net.
MAN OF THE MATCH - MARTIN ODEGAARD
Odegaard has largely underperformed compared to the high standards many expect from him in recent months, but the Norwegian midfielder looked back at his brilliant best tonight.
Odegaard picked out a beautiful pass to Gyokeres in the build-up to the opener, while he also opened up the Olympiakos defence to register the assist for Saka's second, and they were just the highlights of his magic in the middle of the park.
Arsenal's captain was extremely unfortunate not to cap his performance with a goal, as his second-half effort was superbly saved by Tzolakis before his follow-up attempt was blocked.
