Gerardo Martino: 'Argentina must take advantage of Colombia suspensions'

Martino happy with Colombia suspensions

Gerardo Martino has told his Argentina team to capitalise on Colombia's depleted midfield in tomorrow morning's Copa America quarter-final in Vino del Mar, Chile.

The Albiceleste go into the encounter knowing that their opponents will be short of Carlos Sanchez and Edwin Valencia, who are suspended.

Star striker Carlos Bacca is also ruled out through suspension, and Martino warned his troops that they must take full advantage.

"The absences of the two midfielders are especially important for Colombia," the 52-year-old told a news conference.

"I don't know if they have players to replace them in the same way.

"It is clear that one of the two to come in will be Alexander Mejia, but even with differences in personnel their pattern will be more or less familiar."

Argentina - whose game kicks off at 12.30am - could face Brazil in the semi-finals, if Dunga's men get past Paraguay in their last-eight clash on Sunday morning.
