Hiddink resigns as Anzhi manager

Guus Hiddink has resigned as manager of Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.

The 66-year-old Dutchman arrived at the club in February 2012 before penning a new one-year contract last month.

Former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen, who recently joined Anzhi as Hiddink's assistant, has taken over.

Hiddink is reportedly in the frame to be named as the next Barcelona coach.
