Ajaccio held at home by Bastia

Ajaccio and Bastia play out a goalless draw in Ligue 1, the game ending with just 20 players on the pitch.

Ajaccio have been held to a goalless draw by Bastia at home in Ligue 1, with both sides finishing the game with just 10 men.

The first real chance of the match fell to Bastia in the 18th minute, when Toifilou Maoulida shot wide from inside the box.

Ajaccio had the next chance of the game, as Johan Cavalli saw his header saved on 25 minutes.

Magno Macedo Novaes was called into action again just four minutes later, when he kept out an Eduardo Ribeiro attempt.

Bastia created two half-chances thereafter, before Adrian Mutu hit the post with a left-footed shot from close range on the stroke of half-time for the hosts.

Bastia started the second half the brighter of the two teams, with Anthony Modeste heading just wide from a Jerome Rothen delivery in the 53rd minute.

Two minutes later Mutu tried to turn in Cavalli's cross from just yards out, but his attempt was saved by Novaes.

Things boiled over in the final 10 minutes of the match, as each side were reduced to 10 men.

Cavalli was dismissed for Ajaccio for fighting, and so was Gael Angoula for Bastia.
