Michael van Gerwen wins Dutch Darts Masters

World champion Michael van Gerwen wins his first PDC European Tour title of the season by beating Mervyn King 6-4 in the final of the Dutch Darts Masters.

World champion Michael van Gerwen won his first PDC European Tour title of the season on Sunday.

The 24-year-old scooped the main prize at the Dutch Darts Masters, picking up £20,000 in the process.

Van Gerwen recorded a three-dart average of 108.8 in the final as he overcame Mervyn King by six legs to four.

The Dutchman averaged in excess of 100 in three other matches during the event, outclassing Kevin Painter, Wes Newton and Brendan Dolan after scrapping past Steve Maish in his opening game.
