Michael van Gerwen eases into round two

Michael van Gerwen has reached the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship thanks to a routine victory over Paul Lim.

The Dutchman saw off his American opponent 3-0 at Alexandra Palace on Thursday night as the first round of the tournament was concluded.

Lim had earlier beaten Mohd Latif Sapup 4-0 in their preliminary encounter.

Mark Walsh is also through following his 3-1 victory over Darren Webster, while Scott Rand edged out Kim Huybrechts 3-2.

In Thursday's other match, Vincent van der Voort defeated Stuart Kellett 3-0.
