Raymond van Barneveld, Adrian Lewis to meet in World Championship semi-finals

Raymond van Barneveld will meet Adrian Lewis in the World Championship semi-finals after surviving a match dart to beat Michael Smith.

Raymond van Barneveld has produced a remarkable comeback to reach the semi-finals of the World Championship with a 5-4 victory over Michael Smith.

The five-time world champion found himself 3-0 down to the world number eight, but as Smith faltered, Van Barneveld found his range on the treble 20, as well as taking out 121 on four separate occasions, to move 4-3 ahead.

Smith stormed back with five legs in a row before he missed double 20 to reach the last four, and after that missed opportunity, the St Helens thrower witnessed his opponent reel off four successive legs to move closer to a sixth world title.

Van Barneveld will meet Adrian Lewis in the last four on Saturday night after he eased to a 5-2 triumph against Peter Wright.

Lewis coasted into a 3-0 lead and although Wright rallied to win two of the next three sets, as well as end the contest with an average of over 103, Lewis held his nerve in the deciding leg of the seventh set to secure victory.
