Phil Taylor, Adrian Lewis eliminated from Premier League

Phil Taylor has been eliminated from the 2015 Premier League after he suffered a 7-5 defeat to Gary Anderson in Newcastle.

The six-time winner needed to overcome the Scot in the final game of the evening but despite holding a narrow lead at various points in the match, Anderson finished strongly to confirm his place in the last four.

Fellow Stoke-on-Trent thrower Adrian Lewis has also missed out on the playoffs despite an impressive 7-5 victory over leader Michael van Gerwen.

Lewis's exit comes after Raymond van Barneveld registered a vital point in his 6-6 draw with James Wade.

In the opening fixture of the night, Dave Chisnall thrashed Stephen Bunting 7-1 to continue his bid to dislodge Van Gerwen from the top of the table before the playoffs.
