Phil Taylor overcomes Rob Szabo in first-round match

Phil Taylor has beaten Rob Szabo in the first round of the World Darts Championship.

Taylor triumphed 3-1 after losing the first set when his opponent completed a 105 checkout.

However, Taylor fought back, taking out 115 before snatching the next leg after Szabo failed with just 47 left. It was soon 1-1 as Taylor wrapped up the set.

A double 16 secured the third set for a 2-1 lead and, despite some strong resistance from Szabo, Taylor confirmed the win with a double 16.
