Wes Newton eliminated from Premier League

Wes Newton is eliminated from the 2014 Premier League campaign after losing 7-5 to Dave Chisnall in Cardiff.

Wes Newton has suffered a 7-5 defeat to Dave Chisnall which has resulted in the Fleetwood thrower exiting the Premier League before the playoff stage.

The world number nine looked ready to extend his stay in the competition after opening up a 4-2 advantage, but Chisnall reeled off five of the remaining six legs to extend his own stay in the tournament.

Peter Wright retained second place in the table after winning the final three legs to beat Gary Anderson 7-5, while Phil Taylor moved to within one point of the playoffs with a 7-4 triumph over Robert Thornton.

In the other game of the night, Raymond van Barneveld drew 6-6 with Adrian Lewis after the Englishman had missed two darts for the match.
