Kist powers to win over Pipe at World Championship

Christian Kist has stormed through to the second round of the World Championship with a 3-0 victory over Justin Pipe.

The former Lakeside champion has struggled for televised ranking victories since switching to the PDC, but he capitalised on a below-par display from 20th seed Pipe to ease into the last 32.

The Dutchman took the first set in a decider before winning six successive legs to move through to a match with either Dave Chisnall or Rowby-John Rodriguez.

Mark Webster secured his progress with a 3-0 win over Mick McGowan, who had earlier been involved in a preliminary-round encounter with Sun Qiang.

McGowan improved considerably from the 74 average he had posted earlier on Friday, but despite three competitive sets, he was unable to trouble the Welshman.

John Henderson, the 32nd seed, is out of the tournament after losing 3-1 to Darren Webster, who dropped the first set before controlling the rest of the contest against the Scot.
