Bunting defeats Wade at Grand Slam

Stephen Bunting has progressed through to the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts with a 10-8 win over James Wade.

After opening up a 2-0 advantage, Bunting was always ahead against the left-hander, who landed 164 and 170 checkouts during the contest.

However, it was last year's Lakeside champion who finished strongly to set up a quarter-final showdown with Mervyn King.

The world number 11 has enjoyed an excellent 2014 and that continued as he controlled his encounter with Gary Anderson before running out a 10-4 winner.

Defending champion Phil Taylor has recorded a 10-4 victory over Peter Wright as he looks for a sixth title in Wolverhampton.

The Stoke-on-Trent thrower will now play Michael Smith, who came from 3-0 down to register a 10-5 triumph over Christian Kist.
