Anderson, Wade exit Grand Slam of Darts

Gary Anderson and James Wade have both bowed out of the Grand Slam of Darts after suffering second-round defeats on Wednesday night.

PDC world champion Anderson fell victim to an excellent finishing performance from Mark Webster, who only missed four darts at a double during his 10-6 victory.

In the final contest of the evening, Wade surged into a 7-4 advantage against Raymond van Barneveld, only to see the 2012 winner change tactics and throw more deliberately during the final stages.

A visibly frustrated Wade saw the Dutchman reel off six successive legs to complete a 10-7 triumph to set up a last-eight showdown with Webster.

Phil Taylor avoided a scare against Terry Jenkins, winning 10 of the final 12 legs to complete a 10-6 victory after initially losing the first four legs of the match.

The six-time champion will now face Robert Thornton, who held his nerve to see off Robbie Green by a 10-8 scoreline.
