Gary Anderson beats Robert Thornton in all-Scottish final of UK Open qualifier

Anderson beats Thornton in all-Scottish final

Gary Anderson has avenged Thursday's Premier League defeat to Robert Thornton by beating his fellow Scotsman in the final of today's UK Open qualifier in Wigan.

Anderson, who lost 7-2 to 'The Thorn' in Belfast earlier this week, bounced back by recording a 106.47 average en route to seeing off the Ayrshire thrower 6-2.

The 2011 World Championship runner-up had reached the final courtesy of victories over Robert Turner, Andree Welge, Christian Kist, Nigel Heydon, Kim Huybrechts and Justin Pipe.

He collects £10,000 for his triumph - the same figure that was awarded to Brendan Dolan on Friday after the Irishman beat Jamie Lewis 6-1 in the final of the fourth UK Open qualifier.
