Martin Adams stunned by Jimmy Hendriks

Former world champion Martin Adams makes a high-profile exit on an action-packed day of darts at the 2013 BDO World Championship in Frimley Green.

Three-time BDO champion Martin Adams fell at the first hurdle in a dramatic day at the 2013 world championship in Frimley Green.

'Wolfie' Adams was under pressure from the outset and struggled with his doubles to hand the young Dutchman a breakthrough win at the Lakeside.

Wesley Harms joined his compatriot in the last 16 with a topsy-turvy win over eccentric Norwegian Rune David.

David took the opening set and had his opponent flustered with an unusual style but Harms regained his composure to progress by three sets to one.

Top seed Stephen Bunting survived a scare against qualifier Jamie Wilson, going 2-1 down before storming back to book a second-round clash with Darryl Fitton.

A busy day of darts also saw Jan Dekker, Scott Mitchell and Steve Douglas progress, in a field which now guarantees a new world champion following Adams's exit.
