James Wade to miss 2014 Premier League

James Wade and Andy Hamilton will not compete in the 2014 Premier League darts, while Peter Wright and Dave Chisnall will make their debuts in the competition.

World number six James Wade has been omitted from the 2014 lineup for the Premier League darts.

The 30-year-old, who won the competition in 2009, will sit out this year, with Matchroom Sport director Barry Hearn stating that the Aldershot thrower needs a rest.

Andy Hamilton will also miss out this year having competing in 2013.

World championship finalist Peter Wright has been given an invitation, and so too has Grand Prix finalist Dave Chisnall. They will both be making their debuts.

Adrian Lewis, Simon Whitlock, Raymond van Barneveld, Robert Thornton, Wes Newton and Gary Anderson all return for another year, alongside Phil Taylor and reigning champion Michael van Gerwen.

The first event takes place at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, on February 6.
