Wade stars in Dublin to win Premier League Week 12

James Wade has continued his recent good form by winning Premier League Week 12 in Dublin.

The left-hander was fortunate to come through his quarter-final tie with Michael van Gerwen, the Dutchman missing several match darts before Wade won a deciding leg.

However, Wade recorded his highest-ever televised average in the last four, beating Gerwyn Price 6-1 with a 114.73 average, before he came from 5-3 down to defeat Jonny Clayton 6-5 in the final.

While Clayton has extended his advantage at the top of the standings, Wade has realistically all but cemented his spot in the top four, with Peter Wright dropping into fourth position.

Wright was the first player to lose to Clayton on Thursday night, going down 6-3, before Clayton reeled off five legs in succession to defeat Michael Smith, who averaged 104.73 in a 6-4 loss.

Smith had earlier eased past bottom-placed Gary Anderson to extend a bit of breathing space between himself and the Scotsman.
