Price returns to winning ways on Premier League Week 14

Gerwyn Price has kept his faint hopes of a Premier League playoff spot alive with victory on Week 14 in Sheffield.

The former world champion has endured a frustrating campaign, reaching just one final before Thursday night, but the Welshman showed signs of returning to his best form with victories over Gary Anderson, Joe Cullen and Michael van Gerwen.

Price averaged marginally in excess of 100 in defeating Anderson and Cullen by 6-4 and 6-3 scorelines, before he rallied from 4-2 adrift in the final to see off Van Gerwen in a last-leg decider.

With Peter Wright losing 6-1 to Van Gerwen in the quarter-finals, Price is now two points adrift of the fourth-placed Scot with two regular weeks remaining.

Michael Smith is realistically out of the equation after losing 6-5 to Van Gerwen in the semi-finals, the Englishman now needing to reach two finals in succession and winning at least one of them.

Cullen was provided with a whitewash win over James Wade due to the left-hander having spent several days in hospital after being taken ill at a tournament over the weekend.
