Petersen earns return to PDC Tour

Devon Petersen has guaranteed his place on the PDC Tour for the next two years after winning six matches at Qualifying School in Wigan on Thursday.

The South African thrower, who reached the last 16 of the 2014 World Championship, defeated Kirk Shepherd in the last 16 before powering past Chris Hartrey to become one of four competitors to earn their tour card.

Former World Championship semi-finalist Andy Jenkins has also regained his full status after coming through the stacked field before beating Chris Dobey in his deciding contest.

Matthew Edgar, who narrowly missed out on qualification for last year's Grand Slam of Darts and World Championship, was arguably the performer of the day after dropping just two legs in his final matches with William O'Connor and Andy Boulton to win his tour card.

The final qualifier was Jason Lovett, who responded from a whitewash defeat to Alan Norris on Wednesday by ousting Tony Richardson in his last game.

Last-eight results: Devon Petersen 5-1 Chris Hartrey, Jason Lovett 5-0 Tony Richardson, Andy Jenkins 5-3 Chris Dobey, Matthew Edgar 5-0 Andy Boulton
