Alan Norris keen to make Grand Slam of Darts impact

Lakeside runner-up Alan Norris believes that he can impress on his Grand Slam of Darts debut providing that he produces his best form.

Alan Norris has insisted that he is happy to be written off ahead of his Grand Slam of Darts debut in Wolverhampton.

Despite entering the tournament as one of the top seeds, Norris, who reached the final of the BDO World Championship in January, isn't considered as one of the favourites for the event in Wolverhampton, but the recent World Masters quarter-finalist isn't fazed by mixing it with the PDC's best.

The 42-year-old told the Western Gazette: "I can't wait to get out there. I don't really care who I play there either. As long as I take my game out on to that stage I'll be fine.

"If I win up there, people may see it as a surprise, but I won't and if you look at the form guide, I think some bookies need to make it a little closer. I'm 66-1 to win with one bookmaker so I can see a few upsets on the cards.

"I don't think there's much difference between the two – if you're playing well in the BDO, you're more than capable of going up there and thudding it out with the best of them. It's down to your mindset on the day – if you let something bother you, it will."

Norris has been drawn to play Scott Waites, Terry Jenkins and Ronny Huybrechts in the group stages.
