Lewis targets third world title

World champion Adrian Lewis has admitted that it would be a "massive achievement" if he were to win the PDC World Championship for a third consecutive year.

The 27-year-old is bidding to become the first maiden world champion to win the title three years in a row and 'Jackpot' has insisted that despite performing below-par in recent major events, he is capable of beating the big names in the tournament.

Lewis told Sky Sports News: "It will be a massive achievement. No other player's ever done that. That's my goal now, to get up there and win it.

"You've obviously got the likes of Phil Taylor playing brilliant, your Simon Whitlocks, your Michael van Gerwens, but I know from playing really well I should win it."

The tournament, which is staged at London's Alexandra Palace, starts on December 14.
