Lewis survives scare to progress

Defending champion Adrian Lewis came through a tough start to beat Gino Vos and progress on the opening night of the World Darts Championship.

The two-time winner at Alexandra Palace fell a set behind to his Dutch opponent before rallying to level the match at 1-1.

Vos missed darts at double four to go 2-1 ahead and was punished for failing to seize his chance as Lewis showed his quality to bounce back.

Lewis averaged just 83 but claimed the match 3-1 to make the last 32 of this year's competition.
