Nathan Aspinall boosts his Premier League playoff hopes by winning the Week 12 edition in Rotterdam.

Nathan Aspinall has regained a place in the top four of the Premier League table by winning Week 12 in Rotterdam.

Up until Thursday night, Aspinall had reached seven semi-finals without going on to emerge victorious, but that changed in the Netherlands as he pulled off some of his best triumphs of the competition.

Aspinall started the night by edging out home favourite Michael van Gerwen in a deciding leg, taking out 118 when the Dutchman was on 129.

That was backed up by 6-4 victories over Dimitri van den Bergh and Gerwyn Price, who moves into first place despite having to settle for the runners-up spot.

Although the Welshman took a 2-1 lead in the final, he was well below-par in comparison to his other performances, only averaging 88.52 as Aspinall posted a 97.3.

Price now sits one point clear of Van Gerwen, with Aspinall catapulting himself into third position ahead of Jonny Clayton and Michael Smith.

Clayton's opening win over Chris Dobey was enough to take him ahead of world champion Smith, who lost to Price by a 6-3 scoreline in the quarter-finals.

The remainder of the field are now cut adrift of the top five, Van den Bergh's scrappy 6-3 success over Peter Wright only proving enough to keep him within seven points of fifth-placed Smith.
