Adams impresses on Grand Slam debut

Martin Adams has impressed in his first match at the Grand Slam of Darts, beating Ian White by a 5-2 scoreline in Wolverhampton.

The three-time Lakeside champion has previously refused entry into the cross-code event, but the 59-year-old produced a ruthless display against the eighth seed, averaging just below 105.

However, fellow BDO representative Andy Fordham fell to a 5-2 defeat to Adrian Lewis, despite showing signs that he was getting back to his best after a decade away from the television cameras.

Michael van Gerwen got his campaign underway with a 5-0 win against Mark Oosterhuis, while Kim Huybrechts joins him at the top of Group A with a 5-2 victory over Steve West.

Michael Smith and Dave Chisnall came through 5-3 against Wayne Jones and Mervyn King respectively.
