Martin Adams: 'I need to improve in Lakeside last eight'

Martin Adams has insisted that he threw "too many loose darts" during his 4-0 victory over Jim Widmayer in the second round at Lakeside.

The veteran, who is seeking a fourth title in Surrey, comfortably saw off the American, but the Lincolnshire thrower hinted that he will need to play better to defeat either Scott Waites or Ross Montgomery on Friday.

The 58-year-old told BT Sport: "I felt my darts were a bit loose but I'm happy with the result.

"There were lots of straight tons that could have been scores of 140, and too many loose darts scoring one or five."

Adams is the highest seed remaining in the competition after James Wilson and Alan Norris were eliminated during the opening rounds.
