The Proteas looked likely to finish off the contest after taking quick wickets in the morning session following New Zealand's close on 157-4 yesterday.

Dean Brownlie and BJ Watling returned to the crease for the visitors today but they failed to launch a comeback as South Africa bowlers Dale Steyn and Jacques Kallis were on hand to halt their campaign.

Colin Munro could only muster 15 runs for New Zealand, while Doug Bracewell was dismissed for a duck by Steyn, who snatched three wickets during the visitors' second innings.

Morne Morkel wrapped it up for the hosts before lunch by getting Trent Boult caught out with New Zealand falling on 211 runs in Port Elizabeth.
