Hashim Amla was the pick of the Proteas' batsmen with a knock of 81 from 97 balls as they ended their innings with one wicket intact.

Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis (28) and AB de Villiers (31) also helped to push their side towards a modest score of 234.

South Africa lost their opening Group B fixture to India, while Pakistan were beaten by the West Indies.
