Vernon Philander returns to one-day international squad

Vernon Philander is included in the one-day international squad for South Africa's tour of New Zealand and Australia.

South Africa have recalled Vernon Philander for the limited-overs tour of New Zealand and Australia, which begins later this month.

The 29-year-old bowler had fallen out of favour in the 50-over format recently, but he will now be available for the three ODIs against New Zealand and the five matches in Australia.

JP Duminy has been given the honour of captaining the Twenty20 squad, who will meet Australia in three games after the tour of New Zealand comes to an end.

AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel have all been left out of the T20 squad as the Proteas look to rest a number of key players ahead of next year's 50-over World Cup.

ODI squad: AB de Villiers (capt), Hashim Amla, Kyle Abbott, Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, Ryan McLaren, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Aaron Phangiso, Vernon Philander, Rilee Rossouw, Dale Steyn
